With Greensburg’s Main Street District as the core, the Greensburg Community Development Corporation has made the downtown a priority for renewal projects. Downtown Greensburg is centrally located in Westmoreland County and adjacent to growing populations in Hempfield, Unity, and Penn Townships. According to a 2006 Claritas Market Research Report, downtown Greensburg is positioned to serve a broad customer base. The report projected that by 2011, the total population within Greensburg’s market area (a 13-mile radius of downtown) will consist of 270,259 people.
